Goodbye Infocomm Club - Mr Sharizal

Dear students,

This would be my last post in the Infocomm Club Blog. Due to unforseen circumstances, I have decided to step down from the Infocomm Club, this decision is supported by the school management as they wish to see me concetrate more on other school ICT support.

I truly enjoyed my two years teaching you guys. All of you are wonderful bunch of students an Infocomm Club teacher could ever have. I am confident that you all would do great things and would continue to make us proud. Please do continue to support the teacher in charge Mrs Guru and trainer Ms Irene by attending the ICC training on Tue & Thur 3.30pm to 5.30pm, and please do follow the lesson properly and don't give them any problems. (I will still HAMMER you if I hear complaints!)

Lastly to my Sec 4s please, please, please, please study hard for your Exams!

Jeremy Lee - the most exceptional chairperson I have ever met, without you there would be no Infocomm Club, study hard for your English!

Melvin Tan - thank you for making the effort for being so polite and respectful. I am sorry I still can't find your red pen!

Charlotte Ho - multi talented! Is it true your brother says you run like a gorilla?

Guo Xuan - mission maker genius! I like that you think before you say something but can you do that before seeing me? That way, I don't have to wait for you to say something as you take a long time thinking.. :-P

Shawn Ho - cool and calm, great designer skills.. but don't ever let me catch you wearing your ear peice in school again! :-P

Sandeep, Johnny, Daniel - thanks for all your hard work, amongst the sec 3s I see that the three of you are the most "busiest" :-P

Please take note that the dateline for the draft for the competition is on 26th May 2009 (Tuesday).

You are to submit the design that you will submit for the competition and I'll scan your designs for you so that you can refine and add colours to your design with Fireworks.

The final design done with Fireworks is due on 16th June 2009 (Tuesday). Meaning you have to submit your design in soft-copy with colours.

Prior experience or knowledge in 3D game building techniques is not required. Fully sponsored training workshops will be provided for all teams.
Terms & Conditions

All teams are to build their 3D games using Missionmaker.

All production work on the 3D games shall be performed within the facilities at the submission camp.

It is compulsory for participating teams to attend the participating teams briefing.

Games built with Missionmaker cannot be transacted for commercial / monetary benefits.

The entries will be shared among all education institutions via cluster sharing portals, and/or other means that are deemed appropriate by the Organisers.
Judging

Combination of Singapore judging (50%) and UK judging (50%) by a panel comprising industry professionals.

Winning entries will be graded Platinum, Gold, Silver and Bronze.

RACIAL HARMONY DAY FREE MEDIA DESIGN COMPETITION 2009

Each year, schools celebrate Racial Harmony Day as a reminder that the peace and stability that we have in Singapore is the result of hard work and a strong belief in the importance and value of our various cultures and traditions. Schools take the time to immerse their students in a variety of different experiences, and as part of school-wide celebrations, MOE is once again organising a Free Media Design Competition to encourage students to respond to this year's theme and express their experiences, reflections, emotions and ideas in any media!

The theme for Racial Harmony Day 2009 is "Who's Your Neighbour?", which is intended to focus our attention on the people who live closest to us, but whom we might not know much about. Our neigbours and fellow citizens share experiences and living space, and we want to encourage students and citizens to not only find out more about the local communities they live in, but also to reach out and take the first step towards building cohesive, open, vibrant communities. For the competition, students should spend some time reflecting on the theme and sharing their responses with others before putting their creative juices to work!

The competition is open to all full-time students studying in Singapore.

for sCene3 2009 - Cheering Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic Games

The Centre of Excellence for New Media at Innova Junior College organises an annual New Media Academy for students interested to explore and learn about new media. The New Media Academy is a 5-day non-residential camp held during the March holidays. Tutored by industry professionals and student leaders from Innova JC, participants will be guided through the whole production journey in digital photography, digital film-making, digital broadcasting and music design, or website graphic design and animation. Learning journeys to production houses, studios and galleries will also be included. The New Media Academy is an opportunity to stretch your students beyond the usual ICT that they are familiar with.

This year they are working with the Singapore Youth Olympic Games Organising Committee (SYOGOC) to generate more youth social capital through grooming talents surfaced through the Academy to contribute to the outreach of the YOG. These students will be able to construct media-rich websites to promote the Olympic education in their schools. The best websites will be featured and likely to be visited by youths all over the world.

Recycling Project Competition

Today went for the recycling competition,
GREAT JOB EVERYONE =D

we send 4 finalist team for the competition,
ALL 4 projects got MERIT

Today everyone learnt how to use mission maker,
wah, didn't know that all of them are PROssssss~~~~

Yeah, yesterday and today,
we've Recycling Project,
have to recycle parts of the computer,
and form a new artifact.

Here's the project and their rough write up ^^

Griffith Primary School

Group 1

This merry-go-round artifact is made mostly from recycled computer material and floppy disks. As this artifact is made from computer materials, so it does not stand out much and is not as perfect as a real merry-go-round. In future, this artifact may be modified and some day, a real merry-go-round can be built under this design. Due to the weight, we can’t add any human-like things on the horse. It’s base is a cooler fan from the CPU. The middle part is plastic from keyboards and coiled by wires that connect a PC to the projector.

Group 2

It is made up of part of a mic, broken parts of diskette, keyboard arm rest, the skin of the earphone and a monitor base. It also has old wires at the top and parts of a cable at the bottom.

Group 3

Our design is about future F1 cars. We used the colour black to make it look nicer and also more cool. We also put in some fans which look like turbines to show that they can go faster. Our car is also light as F1 cars have to be light to go faster.

Group 4

This robot can calculate number without the user pressing it. The eyes of the robot can see the number and use its hands to type the number. After the answer is found, it will say out the answer. This is a product of the future. Right now, it is made up of recycle computer parts.

Yumin Primary School

Group 1

This product over here may look ordinary but it’s not , it is a figurine of a turtle . This turtle figurine is made up of the parts from the computer . The turtle figurine consists of the disc from floppy disk , computer monitor stand , some part from computer printer , some rubber parts from the keyboard in order to make up this wonderful environmental friendly turtle figurine .

Group 2

Our Project shows a future battle fortress, assorted by hover fighters and followed by a double barrage tank. The fortress is made up of 2 monitor stands and 2 keyboard cover. The hover fighters are made up of mouse, VGA screws and parts of a floppy disk. As for the tank, it is made up of mouse and VGA screws.

Group 3

This is a frog. I use the monitor base as the frog body, parts of the headphone as the eyes, and parts of the printer as the frog legs. We add on a butterfly at the tip of the frog's mouth.

Group 4

Our project is made up of computer components and this includes the computer bases , floppy disc , gloves , monitor , headphone and some parts of keyboard. The face of the panda was made up of base of the computer , the cushion of the headphone and the disc inside the floppy diskette while the body was made up of the components of the keyboard and the hard cover of the monitor. We also add the keyboard control plastic to give out a robot look on the panda. The base of the whole panda was made by the computer base but instead of making a leg we use the whole base to create another look of the panda.

Group 5

This is an Alien and an UFO made of used computer parts.
The UFO’s base shape is obtained by using the monitor base. The decoration on top is obtained by dismantling some used diskettes. The round object on top is the head of the microphone. The stairs were made from the used diskette as well. The orange ‘wings’ at the sides were obtained from printers.
The alien was made from the used of computer parts too. The body and the base were used by the computer base. The eyes were used from the mouse roller. For the mouth we used the disk inside the diskette. Finally we came to the last part which is the legs, it was made from the used of the speaker.

Yesh, today got infocomm club.

but, i'm a little disappointed???
Because most of them were not listening to me,
maybe i pampered them too much???

anyway,
hope thursday everyone can concentrate,
and cooperate with me.

-story ideas for SDMA (only those who've joined)

-our school competition's suggestions
